Is the increased mortality risk associated with low and high BMI explained by current BMI itself or weight gain or loss?
In adulthood, being overweight is associated with a range of health problems including premature mortality. However, in old age, being overweight is associated with living longer. In this paper, we examine the ‘optimal’ BMI for selected health outcomes varies with increasing age.
