Pre-pregnancy adherence to dietary guidelines and risk of gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
Gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are common pregnancy complications associated with increased risk of adverse health outcomes for both mothers and their children. Our previous findings in young Australian women indicated that women with a healthier diet had a lower risk of gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Moreover, we found that adherence to dietary guidelines was low in young women. This project aims to examine the association between pre-pregnancy adherence to national and international dietary guidelines and the risk of developing gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
