Professor Gita Mishra is Head of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Division at the School of Public Health, University of Queensland. She is Professor of Life Course Epidemiology and the Director of the Australian Longitudinal Study of Women’s Health (ALSWH). She also holds an honorary senior research scientist position at University College London, UK.

Professor Mishra has longstanding research interests in women’s health, with a specific focus on the factors that affect reproductive health, from menarche to menopause, and the influence of reproductive health across the life course. Her involvement with ALSWH goes back to near the beginning of the study when she was the first statistician employed on the project in 1996. Since then she has initiated numerous research projects related to women’s health and ALSWH, including InterLACE: a major international collaborative research programme on reproductive ageing and chronic disease that draws on data from more than 200,000 women from 20 cohort studies from ten nations, including data from ALSWH.

Professor Mishra is author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited an academic textbook on Family Based Studies. She is internationally recognized for her contribution to research on a life course approach to women’s health and is accredited as a Chartered Scientist (Science Council) and Chartered Statistician (UK, Royal Statistical Society). In 2012, she was awarded an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship.
