The Australian Government’s 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Older Australians

The Australian Government’s evidence-based Physical Activity Guidelines for Older Australians were released in 2008. Study data was cited in a discussion document developed by the National Ageing Research Institute in 2006 to support the development of guidelines for older Australians.

To encourage older Australians to be physically active, the Department of Health and Ageing (now the Department of Health) and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs jointly produced a resource called Choose Health: Be Active. It was prepared in 2008 by Professor Wendy Brown, one of the Study founders.
