The Australian Government’s 2014 Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines for Adults
(18-64 years)
The Australian Government undertook a rigorous evidence review process to develop its physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines for adults and older Australians.
Published research from the ALSWH 1973-78 cohort was cited 7 times in the systematic review of evidence supporting these guidelines. Evidence from ALSWH contributed to recommendations concerning:
- the revalence and predictors of weight gain, sedentary behaviours and health; and
- new domains of physical activity that need to be considered in activity guidelines.
