This report is a summary of the 2006 major report prepared for The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

The summary addresses the following questions:
• What are the prevalence and incidence rates of selected chronic conditions among the three age groups of participants in the ALSWH
• How have these changed over the first 9 years of the study?
• What are the characteristics of women with different chronic conditions?
• What long-term effects do risk factors have on women’s health?
