On 4 June 2020, the Australian Government House Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs adopted an inquiry into family, domestic and sexual violence. The inquiry will inform the next National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children.

The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health response addressed the adequacy of the qualitative and quantitative evidence base around the prevalence of domestic and family violence in Australia. It made a number of recommendations around the collection and analysis of data. It also discussed the impact of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic on women’s experience of family and domestic violence.

On Friday 16th of October 2020 Professor Deborah Loxton, Peta Forder, and Natalie Townsend gave evidence at the Committee’s Public Hearing.
