Contraception use by Australian women
Synopsis
There are limited Australian data on the use of contraception
by women, their choice of contraceptive methods, patterns of use of
contraceptive methods over various reproductive life stages, and following
reproductive events such as having a child or miscarriage. There is a lack of
information on the socioeconomic, demographic and health characteristics of
women in Australia who use different contraceptive methods. Reliable and up-to-date
data on how the choice and use of contraception varies over the course of
reproductive life, as well as the socio-economic determinants, are important to
help inform government policies and strategies.
