Artificial sweetened beverages consumption and maternal and child health
Synopsis
Consumption of artificial sweeteners has increased substantially over the last few decades. Emerging evidence suggests that regular consumption of artificial sweeteners impairs blood glucose control in healthy adults, and may increase the risk of childhood obesity in children whose mothers consumed artificial sweeteners in pregnancy. This study examines the relationship between maternal consumption of artificial sweeteners in pregnancy, and maternal & child health in the ALSWH and MatCH cohorts.
