The impact of health on lifetime earnings, labour force experience and retirement and the effects of all these factors on the degree of income and health inequalities post retirement

Synopsis

This thesis explores the effects of poor health on labour market outcomes over the life course in Australia with a specific focus on the cumulative effects of poor health and what this means for lifetime earnings. Existing research on these questions mostly provides only a snapshot of the relationship between health during working age and labour market outcomes. There is limited research that focuses on the cumulative effects of poor health on labour market outcomes and none is based on Australian data. I have completed all analysis for this project and chapters have been drafted. I am currently revising the draft to address feedback
