Adherence to dietary guidelines in young Australian women over a six-year period.

Synopsis

Adequate nutrition during women’s reproductive years is an essential modifiable factor influencing women’s and their children’s health. To ensure optimal nutrition status, food-based dietary guidelines are a commonly used education tool to promote a dietary pattern in accordance with National dietary recommendations. This project aims to examine dietary guideline adherence among young Australian women aged 25-30 years in 2003 and 31-36 years in 2009 in both pregnant and non-pregnant women. Furthermore, we investigate the relationships between social and lifestyle factors and changes in adherence to the Australian dietary guidelines.
