Risk factors for self-harm

Synopsis

The present study seeks to build on past research by introducing a more complex analysis of risk factors for self-harm. Three studies are proposed: a) a preliminary study examining the concurrent risk factors for self-harm; b) exploration of whether there may be more than one psychological profile to describe young women who self-harm. These groups can then be compared with respect to short- and long-term outcomes; and c) seeking to predict self-harm by utilising longitudinal data. We would then compare whether short and long term outcomes vary according to self-harm status.
