Synopsis

Both prolonged sitting and physical inactivity have been associated with numerous chronic conditions such as diabetes and obesity. This study aims to examine what the implications of the combined effects of prolonged sitting and physical inactivity are for health care and medication use (quantified as costs). The association between sitting, physical activity and costs will be studied from 2004 to 2010 in mid-age women and from 2002 to 2008 in older women.
