Validity of self-reported stroke among mid- and old-age women in ALSWH

Synopsis

The ALSWH surveys collect data on self-reported stroke. However, we do not know how accurate this report of stroke is. In order to determine whether it is appropriate to include self-reported stroke data in analyses that address questions on the causes and consequences of stroke, we must first assess the validity of this measure. In this project we will determine the validity of self-reported stroke by ascertaining the level of agreement between this and hospital-recorded stroke among women who were included in ALSWH and resident in New South Wales.
