Dietary patterns and gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes risk

Synopsis

Gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes are common pregnancy complications and a growing health concern. Both complications have been related to elevated adverse health outcomes for both mothers and offspring. The numbers are increasing with the increasing prevalence of obesity in women of reproductive age. Diet is a well-known modifiable risk factor for hypertension and type 2 diabetes, however limited attention has been given to the role of dietary patterns in reducing the risk of gestational hypertension and diabetes. The present study aims to identify the associations between dietary patterns and risk of gestational hypertension and diabetes.
