Is level of physical activity associated with risk of hospital admission, length of stay and primary reason for admission?

Synopsis

People who are physically inactive have higher risks of a number of chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Inactivity is also associated with higher health-related costs. A large contributor to health-related costs is hospital admission, however, not much is known about the relationship between physical activity and risk of hospital admission and length of stay. This study examines whether physical activity is associated with hospital admission, length of stay and primary cause of admission.
