Longitudinal trends in diet quality and long-term trajectory of depression in mid-age Australian women.

Synopsis

An emerging body of evidence has suggested that consumption of a healthy diet is associated with a reduced risk of developing depression. However, the effects of changes in dietary intakes on trends in depression are largely unknown. This study aims to determine the degree to which changes in diet quality over time affects the long-term trajectory of depression in a cohort of middle age Australian women. Findings from this study, if shown positive, will provide further support for promoting dietary changes in the primary prevention of depression.
