SF-36 reference values reflecting level of independence in older women

Synopsis

Wellbeing, or quality of life, is an important outcome used in many health care studies, particularly in trials where different types of treatment are compared in terms of their effectiveness. The short form-36 (SF-36) is a widely used, questionnaire that measures health-related wellbeing. The questionnaire covers items related to 7 domains of wellbeing and for each domain, the scores ranges from 0 to 100, with a score of 100 indicating optimal wellbeing. To be able to interpret the scale scores and differences in scores between groups better, reference values are required. The current study provides reference values by relating SF-36 scores to level of independence in daily functioning in older women.
