Women’s experiences of sleep problems and their use of health services and self-care including complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).

This study aims to undertake an analysis of women’s use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and its association to fatigue and sleep problems. Whilst there is research exploring fatigue-related symptoms of cancer and the use of CAM (Bower, Garet, Sternlieb, Ganz, Irwin, Olmstead, Greendale 2011), there is little research on how women use CAM to treat symptoms that may be related to a whole host of other illnesses and issues. This project will gauge how much CAM is being used by women to treat fatigue and sleep problems, helping inform crucial future research into the effectiveness of the treatments themselves.
