Diet and lifestyle factors and gestational diabetes and gestational hypertension

Synopsis

Gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes are common pregnancy complications associated with increased risk of adverse health outcomes for both mother and child. Diet, and lifestyle factors including body mass index, smoking, physical activity and illicit drug and alcohol use, may play a role in development of these complications. This project aims to examine the associations between pre-pregnancy diet and lifestyle factors, both individually and combined, and gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes. We also aim to investigate if similar factors are predictive of gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes.
