Women's perceived experience of intimate partner violence and stay/leave decision making regarding abusive relationships

Synopsis

The aim of this project is to explore the perceived experiences of intimate partner violence amongst Australian women. Women's decision making regarding staying or leaving abusive relationships will be investigated and the use of social support during this time will be examined. Qualitative data to be analysed is comprised of the responses to the open?ended question, ‘Have we missed anything?' included in the ALSWH surveys. Thematic analysis will be used to identify recurring significant patterns or themes in the dataset. It is envisaged that findings from this research will enrich understanding regarding women’s experience of intimate partner violence and leave/stay decision making in abusive relationships.
