Health expectancies of frailty and dementia

Synopsis

One of the great public health successes of the past century has been the increase in the human lifespan. As the population ages, there is a need to determine Not just the quantity of years remaining, but also the quality of those years. Dementia and frailty are two conditions that can heave negative consequences on quality of life and the ability to look after oneself. Determining the number of years living with and without those conditions, and the effect of socio?demographic and lifestyle factors can contribute to the policy debate about healthy ageing.
