Weight change patterns of parous and nulliparous women; a longitudinal study.

Synopsis

The prevalence of overweight and obesity in Australia is increasing with latest data indicating that 60% of adult Australians are overweight or obese. While age, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and geographic location are associated with overweight and obesity, pregnancy has also been identified as an important trigger for weight gain in women. We do not have a good understanding of the role that pregnancy plays in long term weight change in an Australian population. This study will address this important issue.
