Risk factors for falls in mid-age Australian women

Synopsis

Falls are a well-known cause of injuries among those aged 65 years and older. Approximately 1 in 3 older adults have a fall at least once per year. Most research has focused on falls risk of the older adult, however little attention has been given to the increased falls risk of mid-age adults, which may guide earlier intervention and subsequently greater falls prevention later in life. Therefore, the data from ALSWH will be used to investigate falls risk factors for mid-age women. These findings may have implications for falls prevention in mid-age women, which is currently a significant health issue.
