Quality of life comparisons for Australian women with and without weight loss intervention.

Synopsis

This cross-sectional analysis, will examine the changing prevalence of obesity and the degree to which QOL may be improved beyond that of what is expected for achieved weight loss. A comparison of women previously enrolled in the EMPOWER study for women (aged 18-50, BMI 30-60kg/m2) will be compared to women from the ALSWH. We hope to demonstrate that when matched for BMI, women who have undergone weight loss demonstrate greater QOL than their matched counterparts. Clinical practice may also be enhanced as practitioners are able to target improvements in QOL without the need for participants to achieve normal or healthy weight.
