Synopsis

Endometriosis affects 2-17% women of reproductive age with severe period pain, often leading to infertility. Adverse pregnancy events like miscarriage, gestational diabetes, hypertension during pregnancy, preterm birth and low birth weight are seen in women with endometriosis after they become pregnant. A similar situation exists in women with menstrual problems. This project will explore the role of menstrual problems and endometriosis on adverse pregnancy outcomes. It will also investigate whether endometriosis mediates the association between menstrual problems and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
