ALSWH overview and mid-life health

In 2021 The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health (ALSWH) delivered its annual symposium to The Department of Health over five days, as a series of lunchtime webinars.

Day one of the ALSWH annual symposium commenced with a welcome from Mary Wood – First Assistant Secretary of the Population Health Division at the Department of Health.

Professor Gita Mishra provided an overview and update on the refresh of the 1989-95 and 1973-78 cohorts with women with North-Eastern, South-Eastern and Southern Asian ancestry, an update on current linkages, and an update on the establishment of a Secure E Research Platform (SERP) to access data.

Professor Annette Dobson presented on following the experiences of women in the 1973-78 cohort (from ages 18-23 to 40-45) and women in the 1946-51 cohort (from ages 45-50 to 68-73) over 20 years, focusing on risk factors for health and well-being in mid-life.
