Caregiving by priority populations in the Australian Government Women’s Health Strategy 2020-2030

Synopsis

The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care 2020-2030 strategy identified women in priority groups. These included poorer socioeconomic status, living in remote areas, being disabled, being culturally and linguistically diverse, identifying as LGBQTI+ and with a history of abuse. The DoHAC has expressed ineterest in the health of caregivers, yet little is known about the health of caregivers from these priority groups. This research will identify the prevalence, health and health service use of women in priority groups. It will also identify the longer-term health and health service use outcomes of women who cease caregiving.
