Impact of domestic violence on women’s employment

Synopsis

The Australian Bureau of Statistics's (ABS) Personal Safety Survey (PSS) 2016 shows a significant difference in the labour force participation rates of women who experience domestic violence, relative to those who have never experienced violence. This project aims to quantify the impact of domestic violence on women's employment outcomes, such as hours worked, labour force participation rates, and income, over time. It will also aim to identify differences in employment effects observed between women who remain in abusive relationships, relative to those who separate from them.
