Reproductive events and workforce participation across the life course among Australian women.

Synopsis

Women make up about half of the world’s workforce, compared to men. Women's participation in the workforce is essential for achieving financial security and independence. But due to the burden of reproductive events and disorders such as childbirth, menstrual symptoms and disorders, adverse pregnancy outcomes, polycystic ovarian syndromes, menopause, and other gender-related issues, women's work patterns are affected. Despite its importance, there is a paucity of studies that have examined the longitudinal experience of reproductive life events and workforce participation in Australia and globally. Therefore, the study will examine the association between reproductive life events and workforce participation among Australian women.
